Traditionally, skiing was a method with which people could get from one place to the next in the snowy, cold winters. Today, though ski holidays are a popular choice among people in pursuit of active enjoyment on their vacations.

Ski Holidays

But where should you go for your skiing holiday, and what kind of place should you stay? A couple of options are the luxurious catered ski chalets or the less costly self catering ski chalet.

An important decision is what location is best suited for your travel group. You don’t want beginners to be disheartened on their first skiing holiday.

Another consideration is whether you head skiing in Europe or America. If your’e heading to the USA then youll need at least 10 days and the Pound will go further.

All Needs And Budgets Can Be Met In Chamonix

January 18, 2010 - 9:48 am - Antonimus Commercial Articles

When I visited Cham was in the winter of 2001. It was a good winter, or as the locals would call it a real winter. It was really a fantastic time.

That inaugural skiing holiday was done very much on a limited budget. I did not stay in a plush hotel. All we had was a two bedroom place for five of us.

Accommodation in Cham

Chamonix Mont-Blanc today is remarkably different to the ski resort it was 10 or 15 years back. Then it was a town for tough mountaineers and extreme snowboarders and skiers. The seassonaire bars have vanished, as have many of the climbing shops replaced with pricy bars and fashionable boutiques. Chamonix now has a big choice of accommodation and catered chalets available. The tiny cramped flats and studios are still available, now confined mainly to Cham Sud, but the scope and polish of Cham accommodation has increased. Now you will find an over abundance of Cham chalets, from luxury ski catered chalets to basic ski catered chalets. In today’s market, it seems that catered ski catered chalet holidays are increasing in popularity.

What have I been doing since I got to Chamonix Mont-Blanc ? I set up a luxury catered catered ski chalet company with my girlfriend, providing ski holidays to mainly British clients. Today, a decade on, I own three Chamonix Mont Blanc chalets and I am living out my greatest fantasy.

Of course that is if your dream is building for 7 months of the summer frantically trying to get ready for the encroaching winter, and then looking after and driving guests around for the 5 months of winter. It’s not a walk in a park but I do get to live and ski in one of the most beauteous places in the world so it cant be all-bad.
